What Is E-Liquid?

E-Liquid is used in e-cigarette devices, also known as Vaping kits, to convert this liquid into flavoured vapour by heating and evaporating it. E-liquid has several names, such as E-Juice, Vape Liquid, Vape Juice, and E-Cig Juice. The ingredient of e-liquid includes Vegetable Glycerine, Propylene Glycol, Food-grade flavouring, and sometimes nicotine and water. There are a variety of flavours and strengths available in e-liquids, so you aren't limited to just the taste of tobacco. A VG-biased e-liquid tends to produce more significant vapour clouds without causing much throat discomfort. Many people trying to quit smoking prefer e-liquids with a PG bias because they provide the throat hit they're looking for. There is a more subtly vaporized effect with these liquids.

What is Propylene Glycol (PG)?

PG is the ingredient of e-liquid which provides the throat hit and helps carry the flavour within the e-liquid. This liquid has no odour at all and is thin, clear, and colourless. It has a similar density to water and is a flavourless additive. First-time vapers prefer high-PG liquids because they have a higher nic strength and are more similar to traditional cigarettes. It is usually easier to vaporize higher PG e liquids than lower VG e liquids in mouth-to-lung devices with lower power.

What is Vegetable Glycerin (VG)?

Vegetable glycerin has a thicker consistency and is produced from vegetable sources. VG, a non-toxic ingredient with a pleasant taste in the liquid mixture, is responsible for producing the vapour. Because of the thicker consistency of high VG e-liquid, it takes more heat to evaporate from e-cigarette kits with more power. VG e-liquid comes in a wide range of exotic flavours and creates big, thick puffs and intense flavour bursts. This ingredient makes E Liquid smoother to vape and produces more clouds. Vegetable glycerine dominates the liquid, which makes it ideal for high-powered sub-ohm vaping due to its smooth throat hit.

What does TPD E-Liquid Mean?

E-cigarettes and e-liquids are regulated in the EU by the Tobacco Products Directive, or TPD. In order for a product to be sold in the EU, it must meet certain requirements and comply with TPD regulations. TPD regulations apply to e-cigarettes and e-liquids. All nicotine-containing e-liquids sold in UK must undergo emissions testing and be approved by the MHRA before the sale. Nicotine vape fluid is only allowed in certain volumes, regulated by legislation. In e-liquids containing nicotine, 10ml is the maximum bottle size. The directive also specifies how much e-liquid can be held in a tank or pod and its maximum strength. Pods and tanks cannot contain more than 2ml of liquid per TPD standard.

Types of E-Liquids

Choosing the right e-liquid for your vape kit can be difficult sometimes because of the wide range of e-liquid types available. Every vaper has his tastes and motivations when it comes to vaping. The fact is, not all e cig liquid work on all devices. There is a slight difference between each type of liquid in terms of vaping preferences. Vapers can choose from the following types of e-liquid:

Shortfill

No nicotine is present in Shortfill bottles, and they do not require 10ml bottles. It comes in larger bottles with 80% liquid content and is nicotine free. Adding a nicotine shot to the remaining bottle space will create a nicotine e-liquid. The bottle is left with a space for the consumer to add a nicotine solution later since it can be supplied in larger volumes.

Nic Salt

The sensation is similar to smoking a real cigarette, which is ideal for heavy smokers looking to switch to vaping. The nicotine formulation in these e-liquids is slightly different from those in other e-liquids. A Nic salt contains natural nicotine salts as its nicotine source. Due to their low wattage, these vapes are suitable for starter and refillable pod kits. Since Nicotine Salts contain high amounts of nicotine, they work best with small pod-style devices. A slim, pocket-sized device delivers discreet vapour from a small device.

50/50 Vape Juice

Among all the e-liquid ratios, 50/50 offers a good balance between throat hit and flavour when used in any vaping kit. It is the universal ratio available. PG and VG ratios are equal in 50/50 e-liquids, therefore the name. This is right in the middle between High VG and High PG e-liquids. It's the most versatile e-liquid, offering plenty of flavour and impressive clouds. It works in almost every type of vape kit, so it can be used with virtually any kit. Low-power devices would be perfectly fine with high-strength freebase liquids.

70VG/30PG

With a 70/30 ratio, vaping is more dense and works best as a sub-ohm style. This liquid is ideal for sub-ohm vaping due to its smooth throat hit owing to a large amount of vegetable glycerine. As well as carrying flavour, propylene glycol thins the liquid slightly to allow the juice to wick more easily up your coils. Among the top vaping manufacturers, 70/30 ratio is the ratio of choice for Shortfill type e-liquids.

Strength of Nicotine E-Liquid

There are a variety of nicotine strengths, starting as low as 3mg, all the way up to 20mg, in between which are 6mg, 12mg, and 18mg. It depends on the type of equipment you buy and how many cigarettes you smoke to decide what strength e-liquid is right for you. Beginner kits and pod kits are typically the first steps for most smokers. Smokers who smoke more will require stronger nicotine vape juice as they continue to do so. In general, heavy smokers should stick with juices that contain 18-20 mg per ml. It might be enough to satisfy the craving for someone who smokes around ten cigarettes a day at a dosage of 6-12 mg/ml. If you are a light smoker or opt to buy a sub-ohm setup, 3-6mg/ml should be sufficient. As two people owning the same equipment might have completely different vaping styles, you will likely need to experiment with different strengths.
